Report prepared for and commissioned by the Directorate-General of Social Affairs and Employment of the European Commission (DGV). - This major report of around 40.000 words provides a critical survey of the literature on the consequences of globalisation for the viability of European welfare states.
29. (2006) The Political Economy of European Integration in the Polder: Asymmetrical Supranational Governance and the Limits of Legitimacy of Dutch EU Policy-Making. Paper Commissioned by the Wetenschappelijke Raad voor het Regeringsbeleid (Scientific Council for Government Policy). - This major paper of around 30.000 words examines, within a broader European context, the (lack of) societal embeddedness and legitimacy of Dutch EU policy-making from a critical political economy perspective, and puts forward a number of suggestions of how the European project could be better embedded within Dutch society, and how the legitimacy of (Dutch) EU policy-making could be enhanced.
